Poem Paintings

In these first few months of 2024, I find myself turning to the words of others, using them as anchors to stay alive to the wonder of the world. The lines I can’t get out of my head have made their way onto the page, and then I paint a wash backdrop and copy out the whole poem or quote. Because I’m relying on excerpts written by others, I consider this a collaborative project, a visual depiction of my literary influences and tethers.
